Lighting control

Lights can be controlled remotely and with one press of a button

Lighting is possibly the single most important and noticeable element of a building. deckorum respect this and understand how finite control of lighting in a home can easily create harmonious environments for the occupants. Control of lighting has been possible for many years, before remote controls and other elements of home automation were even thought of. But it is only now that many people are fully appreciating the subtle benefits good lighting and controls can offer.

Lutron and Crestron are well known for their lighting control systems. A Crestron home automation system for example is also adept at controlling a Lutron lighting install. Lighting automation results in light switches as we know them becoming a thing of the past. No longer do you have to switch a set of lights in each room on entry and switch them off on leaving.

Whole house off buttons can be programmed in larger houses. deckorum can program your system to create 'paths of light' from gate to kitchen or for other activities within the house from multiple keypad locations. For instance, a keypad in the kitchen may have four buttons programmed. The first lights the kitchen brightly for cooking. The second lights it at half brightness for dining. The third not only lights the kitchen, but also the hallway and a few seconds later the utility room to allow you to place washing in the dryer. The fourth turns off the hallway, utility room and kitchen lights if they are on.

In summary, light switches are restrictive, with lighting automation you can place keypads in more accessible areas and control the lights in multiple areas of the home at once. For example, upon leaving the lounge at night, the lights can illuminate the hallway, stairs and upper floor landings to the master bedroom and fade once you arrive.
